What is the history of mineral supplementation?
Alltech has proven that modern management of mineral nutrition can be carried out by the inclusion of organic trace minerals in the form of Bioplex and Sel-Plex at significantly lower levels than inorganic minerals, while still improving performance. We call this Total Replacement Technology.
To ensure maximum mineral bioavailability, organic minerals have been developed in the form of Bioplex using chelation technology. Bioplex trace minerals are presented to the animal in a way that is comparable with their natural organic state in plants. Sel-Plex is Alltech’s proprietary selenium-enriched yeast, designed to mimic Mother Nature. It is better absorbed and utilized by the animal than inorganic selenium.
Why change from inorganic trace minerals to organic trace minerals?
When inorganic minerals are fed to animals, they may experience negative mineral to mineral interactions. Minerals in this form are poorly absorbed by the animal due to their low biological value and metal ions, which react to the different pH levels in the gastrointestinal tract. This antagonistic interaction between digested minerals can cause significant decreases in the amount of minerals absorbed.
